Professor Beau Viehmann

Head Instructor
Black Belt

A Missouri native, born in Louisiana, MO, returning to the area in 2012 with aspirations to serve the community by providing the benefits of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ.) As an intercollegiate athlete at the University of Missouri he learned that a great leader spends more time helping and serving those who appointed him rather than directing and commanding orders. This attitude of serving has continued over the last eight years in the community as a registered nurse. His journey in BJJ began in 2006 while seeking a way to stay healthy, but not spends hours at the gym. It has developed into a passion to share the “BJJ Lifestyle” with everyone. A lifestyle of healthy choices, actions with purpose, and commitments to self-discipline and excellence that carry over from class to the community. He believes Gracie Barra Black Belt Flavio Almeida describes it best when he says, “The benefit is far beyond the scores (winning and losing) and has to do with a better understanding of one’s ability to perform and his or her limitations.” Coach Beau believes that bringing this vision and way of life to Hannibal will help students create a stronger self, a stronger school, and most importantly, a stronger community.

He received his Black belt from Gracie Barra Black Belt and Missouri Regional Director, Professor Mike Buckels at Gracie Barra St. Louis and Beau is a certified instructor for Gracie Barra. In addition to joining the St. Louis team, in his 6 previous years of training, he has trained with World Champions Flavio Almeida, Carlos Lemos Jr., Marcos Barros, Romulo Barral, Samuel Braga, Braulio Estima, and Lucas Leite. He has competed in many smaller tournaments, but most notable are the 2015 IBJJF World Masters, 2015 IBJJF Chicago Open silver medalist, 2013 and 2014 IBJJF Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Championships as a purple belt taking 3rd in 2014, and the IBJJF Chicago Open were he took silver.

Coach Rob Warner

Purple Belt

Coach Rob is the owner and full time certified instructor of Gracie Barra Jefferson City. He was born in central, Missouri. He lived on a cattle farm and grew up hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. This laid back lifestyle lent plenty of time for his love of God, family, and America’s pastime, baseball.

He walked a path which led to serving in the armed forces. He served in Iraq, from 2003-2004 under the 82nd Airborne, during Operation Iraqi Freedom, where his temporary residence was Baghdad, Iraq.

Coach Rob was also a Police Officer, with the majority of his 10 years spent as a Special Agent with the Northeast Missouri Narcotics Task Force, working in overt and sometimes covert investigations involving drugs. Understanding that this was an often times dangerous job, he turned to Jiu Jitsu for self-defense and fitness.

This led him to joining Gracie Barra Hannibal where he was introduced to Professor Beau Viehmann, the owner and head instructor. Professor Beau and Gracie Barra Hannibal have had a serious impact on his overall health and well being. He often encounters people throughout his day and speaks to them about the benefits of jiu jitsu. Even though he has received personal accolades, he believes strongly in the benefits of, “teamwork,” which has helped him in his journey as a member of Gracie Barra Hannibal and then becoming an instructor. Coach Rob has a strong conviction for serving others, and placing others before himself.

Coach Rob likes to travel and compete in jiu jitsu tournaments. White he has competed in several smaller tournaments, he prefers to compete in the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) who hosts tournaments throughout the world. He has competed at Master’s Worlds in Las Vegas, and also competed in Chicago and Atlanta. In 2016 Coach Rob was a second place Gi medalist at the Chicago Spring Open. Later that year, he attended the Chicago Summer Open and was a second place Gi medalist, and a third place Absolute medalist in the Gi division. He then competed and received a third place medal in a NoGi division, also in the Chicago Summer Open. So far in 2017, Coach Rob was a second place medalist in the Gi division in the Atlanta Winter Open, and a third place medalist in the Absolute Division.

One of Coach Rob’s favorite quotes:
“So long as we love we serve; so long as we are loved by others, I would almost say that we are indispensable; and no man is useless while he has a friend.”
-Robert Lewis Stevenson
